Krogerus advised NTR on the acquisition of a ready-to-build battery energy storage system located near the city of Tornio in North-West Finland. The project is one of the first three acquisitions completed by the L&G NTR Clean Power Transition IV Fund, which announced commitments of EUR 330 million at its first close.
The project will have a power rating of 125 MW and a storage capacity of 250 MWh, providing two hours of energy storage. Construction is scheduled to commence in 2026, with operations expected to begin in 2027. The project will support Europe’s wider electrification by providing the grid flexibility needed as renewable energy capacity increases.
The Krogerus team was led by Partner Sami Laine, who was primarily assisted by Associates Toni Kastell and Henrik Haijanen. Partner Ritva Aalto advised on tax matters and she was assisted by Associate Otto Ahtola.
