Krogerus Data Symposium 2026

Max Schrems is an Austrian activist, lawyer, and author who became known for campaigns against Facebook for its privacy violations, including violations of European privacy laws and the alleged transfer of personal data to the US National Security Agency (NSA) as part of the NSA's PRISM program.

Schrems is the founder of NOYB – European Center for Digital Rights. NOYB - "None Of Your Business" aims to launch strategic court cases and media initiatives in support of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the proposed ePrivacy Regulation, and information privacy in general.

Anu Talus has served as the Finnish Information Commissioner since autumn 2020. She is the Head of the Office of the Data Protection Ombudsman of Finland (TSV) and the Chair of the European Data Protection Board (EDPB).

Prior to her work at the Finnish Data Protection Authority, Talus served as Senior Adviser at the Ministry of Justice for over ten years. At the Ministry of Justice she led the implementation of the GDPR in Finland and acted as representative of the Finnish government in the EU GDPR negotiations. Talus has also worked at the European Commission as Seconded National Expert.

Talus holds a Doctor of Laws degree and a Master of Laws degree from the University of Helsinki and a Master of Arts degree from the University of Vaasa.

Mark Falcon is a US-qualified attorney holding CIPP/E, CIPP/US, and CIPM data privacy certifications. He serves as General Counsel at IQM Quantum Computers, a leader in the manufacturing and delivering of on-prem or cloud-based quantum computers globally. Previously, Mark was General Counsel for a European financial institution and card payment processor. In these roles, he advises boards and executive management on legal strategy and corporate governance, and leads teams focused on enabling growth and mitigating risk.

Lauri Ignatius has been responsible for ICEYE’s legal matters since 2019 and is an expert in navigating the regulatory framework of a satellite company’s business. At ICEYE, Lauri has led the legal workstreams of several financing rounds, structured satellite sales transactions, and managed ICEYE’s business-specific regulatory compliance, all in a business that is doubling itself every year.

Vili Lehdonvirta is Professor of Technology Policy at the Department of Computer Science, Aalto University, Finland, and Senior Fellow at the Oxford Internet Institute, University of Oxford, UK. He leads the Digital Economic Security Lab (DIESL). He has been awarded three European Research Council grants for studies on the international political economy of digital technologies. His books on Cloud Empires and Virtual Economies are published by MIT Press and translated to Chinese, Japanese, and Italian. He is a frequent keynote speaker and has advised the European Commission, the World Bank, the OECD, national governments, companies, and startups on digital policy, infrastructure, and strategy.

Minna Mustakallio is Head of Responsible AI at Yle, overseeing the responsible and strategic use of AI. She owns Yle’s principles for responsible artificial intelligence and heads AI-Governance at Yle. To Minna leading AI efforts is first and foremost leading collaboration and building organisational ability to work with AI in an uncertain future.

Pasi Toivanen is the Senior Vice President (SVP) Strategic Government & Industry Initiatives at Nokia, based in Finland. In this capacity, he leads Nokia’s engagement with major government bodies and industrial consortiums, acting as a primary bridge between public sector initiatives and technological innovation. His current primary focus is orchestrating Nokia’s and its ecosystem’s strategic approach to the EU’s AI Gigafactory initiative, spearheading multi-billion-euro collaborations to build world-class sites for AI-driven innovation in Europe.

Pasi brings a unique perspective to his current mandate, operating on the belief that ecosystem collaboration is the primary driver of AI competitiveness. His approach leverages years of experience scaling partnerships where technology meets business to ensure AI initiatives deliver security and long-term growth. 

A recognized thought leader in driving ecosystem-led growth, Pasi previously served as the Head of Network Infrastructure (NI) Strategic Partnerships. He executed partner strategies working closely with technology providers, system integrators, and industrial partners. Pasi has been driving force behind Cloud RAN (now AI RAN) where success is hinged not on technology alone, but on creating an open ecosystem for innovation to flourish through strategic alliances. This partner-first, trust-based method underpins his approach to aligning cross-border government and industry consortiums. 

Pasi’s career reflects a truly global perspective. Having joined Nokia in 1998, he has held various senior roles across program, portfolio, and partner divisions. Beyond Nokia, he held senior leadership roles at Juniper Networks and Ericsson, where he served as Global Head of IP Solutions and Global Head of Service Delivery. He has worked extensively across several countries, including China, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

In his spare time, Pasi has a passion for motorcycling and good wine, though he is careful not to pursue these interests simultaneously.

Jarno is a partner in the Data, Privacy, and Security group of King & Spalding LLP. Jarno’s practice spans privacy and cybersecurity regulatory compliance and investigations, AI regulations, IT and cybersecurity policies and procedures, AI governance, complex cross-border technology and data transactions, data and software licensing, and other technology and data transfer agreements. Jarno holds CIPP/US and CIPP/E certifications. Jarno has been included in 2025 and 2026 Incident Response Elite by Cybersecurity Docket as well as in Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Global Cyber Lawyers.

Kalle heads Krogerus' Technology, Data & IP practice. He advises clients on both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property matters with a particular focus on copyrights and trademarks, and he is an authorised trademark attorney in Finland. He has extensive experience in commercial contracts and transactions relating to intellectual property, data, technology and media. Kalle also regularly provides counsel on marketing law and data protection matters and he is a CIPP/E (Certified Information Privacy Professional/Europe). Prior to joining our firm, he worked as an in-house IPR counsel at a leading European media and learning solutions corporation.

Pessi advises clients in commercial contracts and outsourcing, technology-related assignments including the application of artificial intelligence, protection of and transactions involving both personal and non-personal data, as well as intellectual property, with a particular focus on copyright and related rights. A certified information privacy professional, Pessi draws from his in-house experience to represent domestic and international clients in sectors ranging from ICT, media and creative industries to biotech and pharmaceuticals.

Salha specialises in data protection and cybersecurity law. She also provides counsel in assignments relating to technology, commercial contracts and dispute resolution. Prior to joining Krogerus, Salha has led a data protection team in a Nordic law firm, worked as senior legal counsel in a cybersecurity company and provided legal services through other firms. She is a certified information privacy professional (CIPP/E) and an experienced speaker and lecturer. Her work is especially recognised for its practical approach and strong understanding of technology.

Emma specialises in contract law assignments relating to technology, R&D, intellectual property and data and advises clients on these topics. Within IP law, she has a particular focus on patents. She also supports clients with their ICT projects and provides advice on data protection matters. Having worked as an in-house counsel in the field of innovative research for several years, Emma has extensive experience in supporting a wide range of research and commercial projects. In addition to her law degree, she holds an MSc (Econ. & BA) degree specialising in IP law.

Ada specialises in intellectual property, data protection and technology-related matters, with particular experience in technology transactions, commercial agreements and regulatory questions. Prior to joining Krogerus, Ada worked in a top Finnish law firm and has also gained in-house experience from a leading mobile gaming company. In addition to her Master of Laws degree from the University of Oslo, she holds an LL.M. in Intellectual Property and Information Law from King’s College London.

Iiris specialises in intellectual property law, data protection and European law. Additionally, she provides counsel in assignments relating to commercial contracts, technology, consumer protection and marketing law. Iiris began working at our firm already as a law student, prior to which she worked as a trainee in another law firm in Finland. She has also gained notable experience in EU litigation while working in a judge's cabinet at the General Court of the European Union.

Aleksi specialises in matters related to intellectual property law and commercial contracts. Furthermore, he provides counsel in assignments relating to media and telecommunications, technology and data protection. Aleksi began working at our firm as an associate trainee, prior to which he worked i.a. as a legal trainee at a multinational social media company in London.
