Krogerus advised VR Group on the acquisition of Arriva Sverige AB from Arriva Group, the pan-European passenger transport company ultimately owned by Deutsche Bahn AG.
Following the acquisition, Arriva Sverige will become an independent company under VR Group and VR Group will become a significant transport operator in Sweden. As climate-friendly public transport is growing, VR Group aims to further grow in urban public transport and develop cleaner and more sustainable solutions for public transport. With the acquisition, VR Group aims to strengthen its accumulated expertise in clean urban transport also in Sweden.
The transaction is expected to close in early July 2022, subject to customary conditions precedent, including approvals from the German Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport and the Deutsche Bahn supervisory board.
