Krogerus advises Sponsor Capital in its divestment of employment services provider Barona

Krogerus advised private equity firm Sponsor Capital Oy in its divestment of Barona Group Oy. Barona’s operations include recruitment, outsourcing, accommodation services and executive search. It is the largest human resources provider in Finland. Barona also operates in Russia, Poland, Sweden and Estonia.

The transaction involved Barona management’s purchasing Sponsor Capital’s 50% ownership in Barona together with Nordic Mezzanine and LähiTapiola Pension. As a result, Barona management now owns 75% of Barona, while Nordic Mezzanine and LähiTapiola Pension own the remaining shares.

Sponsor Capital held the shares since 2007, during which time Barona became a market leader. In 2011, Barona’s revenue was EUR 155 million.

The Krogerus team was led by partner Mika Ståhlberg. He was assisted by senior associates Tom Fagernäs and Ilkka Liljeroos and associates Johanna Ahlström, Paul Raade and Nikolas Sjöberg.
