Krogerus advises Nevel in a district heating joint venture with Sotkamo

Krogerus advises Nevel Oy on the establishment of a joint venture with Sotkan Voima Oy, a company owned by the municipality of Sotkamo, to manage district heating production, distribution, customer service, and development in the municipality of Sotkamo. The new company, Sotkamon Energia, will commence operations in early 2026.

The project aims to develop Sotkamo's district heating in a sustainable and competitive manner through an innovative operating model. The new company will be comprehensively responsible for district heating going forward. The model enhances security of supply and maintenance, enables investments in new technology such as electrification, and creates a pathway towards responsible, carbon-neutral energy production.

The Krogerus team was led by Partner Sami Laine, and he was primarily assisted by Associates Toni Kastell and Teemu Huhtala. Partner Samu Lassila and Senior Associate Jemiina Pohja advise on the tax aspects of the transaction.
