Krogerus hosts its eleventh annual Insolvency Afternoon seminar for leading market participants

On 15 November, Krogerus held its eleventh annual Insolvency Afternoon for leading market participants from the public and private sectors. Over 100 persons were in attendance at the Krogerus facilities in Helsinki.

Keynote speakers included Sixten Korkman, a professor of economics at Aalto University; Eeva Arko-Koski, a bankruptcy ombudsman at the Office of the Bankruptcy Ombudsman; Jari Pirinen, head of development at Finnvera Oyj; and Tuomas Hupli, a professor at the University of Helsinki’s Faculty of Law.

“This important event gave participants the opportunity to get the latest developments in bankruptcy and insolvency law,” says Jarmo Makkonen, a partner at Krogerus who served as the host for this year’s event.

Krogerus has Finland’s largest team of lawyers specialising in all aspects of bankruptcy, insolvency and restructuring. Recent assignments include acting as an administator to the bankruptcy estate of FNsteel Oy Ab (producer of wire rod and PC strand), one of the largest in recent years for Finland.

The firm also acts as an administrator in the corporate restructuring proceedings of Maskun Kalustetalo Oy (furniture retail sale) and as an administrator to the bankruptcy estates of Haminan Veistosaha and Havesa Components Oy (sawmill cluster) and Lapponia House Oy (producer of houses from wood materials).

“By bringing together leading experts, we can learn from each other and gain a hands-on perspective on how to administer high-profile restructuring and insolvency matters,” adds Jarmo.
