Krogerus boosts its chemicals regulatory and competition practices by welcoming Anna Roubier to the firm

Krogerus enhances its chemicals regulatory (REACH) and competition law practices with the appointment of Anna Roubier as a counsel with the firm.

Prior to joining Krogerus, Roubier worked as a legal adviser for the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) since 2011. Roubier has also worked for Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton, in Brussels, from 2007–2010 and for another leading law firm in Finland from 2003–2007. She has in-depth experience in both competition law and chemicals regulatory matters.

"Anna's strong international background will allow her to make significant contributions especially to our cross-border assignments," says partner Katri Joenpolvi, head of Competition and Regulatory.

"Moreover, Anna's experience in chemicals legislation is unique in Finland and enables us to offer sophisticated specialist services to our clients," adds partner Sami Laine, head of Environment and Land Use.

The REACH regulation obligates manufacturers and importers to register with ECHA all chemicals they produce or import within the European Union in quantities exceeding one tonne per year by June 2018.

Authorities estimate that there could be as many as over 70,000 registrations before the final deadline.

"REACH processes are primarily based on scientific elements," says Roubier. "But they take place back-to-back with administrative proceedings where companies can benefit from legal counsel."
