Who are you and where do you study?

I am Samuli Nahkala, and I'm studying at the Faculty of Law at the University of Helsinki. Before working as a Legal Trainee in our Insolvency team, I worked as an Office Support Trainee at Krogerus.

What was the recruitment process like and how did it feel?

The recruitment process was efficient and clear. After submitting my written application, I was invited to an interactive interview, where we got to know each other better, and I was given more information about the position I had applied for. The decisions were made soon, after that we agreed on my start date and other practical details.

What does a typical workday look like for a Legal Trainee?

A typical workday mainly consists of drafting documents, handling information related to the debtor, and communicating with both debtors and creditors.

Which colleagues have you been regularly working with during your trainee period?

I share an office with two other trainees, so naturally I work most closely with them. Assignments come from every seniority level, but mostly from associates. Also, we are often supported by our practice's assistants so in other words, we regularly work with the entire team.

What do you especially appreciate about Krogerus' culture and atmosphere?

The atmosphere at Krogerus is open and easygoing, yet ambitious and supportive. I have been warmly welcomed both in the team and within Krogerus. The sports opportunities offered by Krogerus have helped bring balance to my daily routine and physical well-being. Additionally, the leisure events have made it easier to get to know colleagues from other practices.

How have you been supported as a young professional at Krogerus?

During the trainee period I’ve been encouraged to ask questions, treated with patience and recognized as a contributing member of the team. As a Legal Trainee, I’ve been given more responsibility as I’ve gained experience, and actively encouraged to take it on. In our team, there’s no need to fear making mistakes or being left alone.
