Krogerus advises Kvanted on a EUR 10 million investment in Vexlum

Krogerus advised Kvanted, a Nordic venture capital firm focused on industrial technology, on a EUR 10 million investment in Vexlum, a manufacturer of advanced semiconductor lasers for high-impact applications. The funding is set to be the largest seed round to date for a photonics company from the Nordics. The round consists of EUR 6 million in equity investment led by Kvanted, with participation from Finnish state-owned Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment Ltd) and the EIC Fund, alongside a EUR 2.4 million grant from the EIC Accelerator, and a EUR 1.6 million loan from Nordea.

The scaling up of technologies such as quantum computing and atomic clocks is currently constrained by the limited availability of compact, cost-effective, high-power laser sources at precise wavelengths. Vexlum’s lasers address this bottleneck, enabling industrial deployment of these systems. The capital will improve Vexlum’s manufacturing capacity and production scale, accelerating adoption within quantum technologies and beyond.

The Krogerus team was led by Partner Annika Schauman and she was primarily assisted by Senior Associate Niclas Ruotsalainen and Associates Henna Olkkonen, Ada Hård af Segerstad and Sari Oravainen.
