Krogerus advises Royal Unibrew on its DKK 3.3 billion acquisition of Hartwall, a leading Finnish beverage company

Krogerus is advising Royal Unibrew A/S on its acquisition of Oy Hartwall Ab from Dutch brewing company Heineken. The enterprise value of this transaction is DKK 3.3 billion (approximately EUR 470 million).

Hartwall is a leading player in the Finnish beverage business with a strong market position in beers, carbonated soft-drinks, waters, long-drinks, ciders, wines and spirits. The portfolio includes brands such as Hartwall Jaffa, Novelle, Lapin Kulta, Karjala and Upcider. In 2012, Hartwall posted revenue of around EUR 300 million. It employs roughly 850 persons.

Royal Unibrew is a Danish company that produces and distributes quality beverages. It focuses on branded products in beer, malt and soft drinks categories, including soda water, mineral water and fruit juices. Royal Unibrew’s main brands include Royal, Ceres Strong Ale, Cido, Kalnapilis, Faxe Premium and Vitamalt. In 2012, the company posted revenue of around EUR 455 million. It employs roughly 1,600 persons.
