“There were a million different small things I didn’t know about law firms before I started working at Krogerus.”

I currently work as Legal Trainee in Insolvency Practice group, but before this role I worked as an Office Support Trainee for over a year. I applied for a position of an Office Support Trainee on my first year of studies and got called in for an interview. I suppose it went well, since I was asked to sign a contract on the same day. Before this, I had been actively looking for work in the field and the interview at Krogerus was my first. I saw working in a law firm as an option for me, although I don’t think one should rule out any options in the beginning of studies.

As an Office Support Trainee, you get a lot of silent information that is unavailable to others. I became familiar with the structure of a law firm and what we actually do. In the end, the most useful thing I learned during my office support trainee period is how a business law firm works. You might think it’s a no-brainer, but there were a million different small things I didn’t know about law firms before I started working at Krogerus. In addition to this, I learned the firm’s methods and conventions. I saw many thigs as a trainee — in that position, you often get assignments that other teams wouldn’t usually do. This was an advantage, as it allowed me to dive deep into the core of the firm.

The way to make the most of a traineeship is to be interested in your work and find things out, whether they are related to the task at hand or not. If I could give advice to someone who is starting their career, I would tell them to be themselves — but to work hard.
